Mr. Afkhami current serves as the Federal Solutions Manager for MPACT Strategic Consulting, an experienced Local, State and Federal 8(a) certified contractor.

Mr. Afkhami has a broad range of education, training and experience in three relevant sectors including 1) continuity of operations and emergency management, 2) foreign policy and intelligence, and 3) the national airspace system and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). He has over 18 years of experience with leading people and 12 years of experience as a first responder/emergency manager.

Public Health & Continuity/Emergency Management: Mr. Afkhami has 12 years of experience in prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. He has completed numerous training courses and certifications including a Master Level Certification as a Military Emergency Management Specialist (MEMS), a FEMA certified Professional Continuity Practitioner (PCP) and holds an active Emergency Medical Technician license. He has written articles for FireRescue1 and Fire Chief magazines. In 2021, Mr. Afkhami was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan (MD) to serve a four-year term on the Maryland Department of Health’s State Board of Dietetic Practice.

Entrepreneurship & Management: Mr. Afkhami has over 11 years of experience working and helping small businesses and entrepreneurs. The culmination of this experience led him to write a book called “The Startup King.” It includes hundreds of hours of research in business planning, marketing, entity formation, bookkeeping, administrative support, payroll, human resources and purchasing best practices. He also lectures for economic development councils. He has a Master of Science (M.S.) in in Applied Analytics to improve decision making skills with data science, analytics and mining.

Foreign Policy & Intelligence: Mr. Afkhami combines his degree in Intelligence Studies and interest in international relations to write and lecture on the impact of foreign policy, foreign/domestic extremist organizations and use of intelligence. Two of his most recent lectures, available by video, covered the impact of COVID-19 on foreign policy and domestic extremist groups.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Mr. Afkhami is a Federal Aviation Administration certified Remote Pilot Airman and has written white papers on the integration of drones into the national airspace. He has published articles on the use of UAS by the emergency services sector. He sits on numerous UAS standard setting bodies, helping to contribute to the safe integration of UAS into critical infrastructure sectors. His latest writing, titled “The Impact of UAS and UAM on the Emergency Services Sector” was published in the Journal of Air Traffic Control.

Mr. Afkhami has an MS in Analytics as well as a BA in Intelligence Studies from American Military University, He is a Farsi and Dari speaker and familiar with the histories, customs and cultures of Middle Eastern and Central Asian populations.
